As for Horses, our lead singer was not the same Don Johnson who played in Miami Vice. Scott Quigley was a friend of mine in high school. Carter and Gilbert hired him half way through that White Whale album to replace Fifefield. Rich just didn't fit in. ...I do not know anything about Edsel Boogie, sorry!

You know that I'm the Boogie/Dukes' historian, so when I spoke sometime ago with Bastian, Barrett and Oxendine about the "Edsel Boogie" they only told me that:

(a) "Edsel Boogie was not us"

(b) "We remember the name but they were not around very long"

I think Edsel Boogie disappeared just before Boogie born, because Boogie was born on April 6, 1968 and, as you can see on the above festival poster dated March 1968, Edsel Boogie was already born.

BTW, I also talk with Bill Champlin today about Edsel Boogie and he told me that he thinks maybe Edsel Boogie was a Sha-Na-Na kind of band.
Bruno Ceriottihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11902562334118804557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5268955857828486331.post-60697479534454623392013-05-17T03:04:23.961-07:002013-05-17T03:04:23.961-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Bruno Ceriottihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11902562334118804557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5268955857828486331.post-63457890456307747212013-05-16T18:02:28.041-07:002013-05-16T18:02:28.041-07:00Thanks for the detail and the kind words, Bruno. It might bear mentioning that the 1969 A&M Shango album is another group. The album spawned a novelty single "Day After Day" (It's slipping away) which I recall getting a lot of airplay. Like their bay area counterparts, this group was around for milliseconds.

Nelson's absence from music in 1968 was the interval when he narrowly avoided being drafted into the Dead as Bob Weir's replacement. Things would have sure been different had that happened!
cryptdevhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13944617292210813801noreply@blogger.com
